Great news ahead of the Steam Machine launch, thanks to AMD updating FSR 4 it’s now supported on discrete RDNA3 GPUs for Linux / SteamOS and Steam Machine.
To get it to work you need Proton Experimental for this, which was recently updated to add direct support for it.
On any Linux / SteamOS system just search for “Proton Experimental” in your Steam library and install it.
Then you can select it for specific games for testing – more on that in the GamingOnLinux guide.
This should hopefully really help boost game performance on the Steam Machine, so it will be interesting when I finally get my hands on one to do some benchmarking and really put it through testing.

Fingers crossed I get that email tomorrow about a reservation, as Valve PR did not respond to multiple requests for hardware.
