The Windows compatibility layer Wine 11.12 is out now bringing the usual assortment on new features and fixes to further expand compatibility on Linux.

Quick-reminder: Valve’s Proton is forked from Wine, it’s one of the big bits of tech behind the scenes that allows so many thousands of Windows games to run so nicely on Linux / SteamOS systems like the Steam Deck and Steam Machine.

The main noted highlights from this 11.12 release:

Not mentioned directly but as covered on GamingOnLinux previously – Wayland fractional scaling was also merged in.

For Wine 11.12 they noted 27 bug fixes which include issues solved for Against the Storm, Need for Speed Most Wanted (2005), Super Hexagon, Sonic Boom (1995 Klik & Play fangame), MS Office 2007 and various others.

The next Wine release 11.13 should be due around July 10th.
