Blizzard just launched Diablo IV – Season 14 bringing new content but they ended up breaking the game with Proton on Linux / SteamOS systems.
Unfortunately, they didn’t seem to do enough (or any?) testing to ensure it remained compatible.
A continuing problem for gamers playing Windows games on Linux / SteamOS with Proton.
Writing on the official forum, a Blizzard rep noted they were working on it but a later update a few hours ago noted their hotfix did not solve the issue and so we’re left waiting for their next attempt that will hopefully be later on today.
If I see it getting fixed, I’ll update this article to let you know.

As one of the most-played games on Steam Deck, hopefully the real fix won’t take too long.
And, hopefully some lessons will be learned from the botched rollout of the update.
