Valve released two new versions of SteamOS Linux – SteamOS 3.8.23 Beta and SteamOS 3.8.15.
Here’s all that’s changed for Steam Deck, Steam Machine and others.
Many Steam Deck gamers recently noticed with the SteamOS 3.8 release they were seeing poor performance compared with the previous stable release.
There’s been a lot of reports on it across social media, Reddit and other places.
It’s quite surprising that such a clearly easy to spot issue made it into a release but nice to see it solved.
For the stable channel on SteamOS 3.8.15 the changelog notes:

This update is for the SteamOS Beta and Preview channels, and includes new features that are still being tested.
You can opt into this in Settings > System > System Update Channel.
Note: This beta contains changes that were simultaneously released to SteamOS stable channel as 3.8.15, noted below
